CBD as a daily supplement

I first started learning about CBD when commissioned by a client to write a number of articles on the subject. The claims that it could help with focus, energy, sleep, and numerous physical and mental health conditions, left me sceptical. After hours of research and writing many articles on the topic, I discovered that some of my scepticism was unfounded.

CBD works in the body with our endocannabinoid system like no other nutrient or chemical that I am aware of. The way it can instigate one reaction for one person and a seemingly opposite effect in another appears either miraculous or a downright lie. Below I’ll delve into how CBD works within our bodies and why it’s a supplement I have incorporated into my routine.

The endocannabinoid system

Along with a nervous system, respiratory system, immune system, and so on, each of us has an endocannabinoid system (ECS). All these systems play a role in keeping us healthy, alive and able to sense the world around us. The ECS is responsible for maintaining stasis, or balance, within our bodies and minds. This system is the most recently identified, initially discovered through research into pig’s brains. It’s not just humans that have an ECS; mammals, birds, amphibians, fish and even the most primitive animal, the Hydra, have one too.
