With COVID19 sweeping the world, it’s hard to think there could be a positive side to all of this madness. More and more countries are closing their borders, all but essential services are being put on hold, the future is more uncertain than we’ve ever known it to be. Social-isolation, closed businesses, job losses and the risk of infection are prominent in most people’s minds right now. To say it’s a worrying and difficult time is certainly one of the biggest understatements of the year. But, with every cloud, there comes a silver lining.

The silver lining for COVID19 is many facetted, just as the downside is. Staying positive can boost our immune systems, so here’s several of the up-sides to the current pandemic that’s keeping us all indoors.

Let’s clear the air

CO2 emissions are one of the biggest drivers of climate change. Not only that, but toxic particulates that fill the air in big cities like London are also linked to thousands of deaths each year. The very air we breathe has been so polluted by everyday life that it’s shaving around 2 years off each person’s existence. If you lived or still live in one of these cities, you’re likely to have the lungs of a smoker — even if you’ve never puffed a single cigarette in your entire life.
